What Is Dark Souls 3?
Dark Souls 3 is the third ambitious chapter of the famous series that started with Dark Souls 1, or just Dark Souls.
This game, just like the previous one, takes place in a hypothetical medieval world, where locations represent old castles, towns, woods, and other places of dark atmosphere.

Story and Background
Dark Souls 3 takes place in the kingdom of Lothric during the Age of Fire, an age known for its prosperity and opulence. However, the Age of Dark is coming, announced by a bell which indicates the death of the First Flame, i.e. the final of the Age of Fire.
The only thing that can rekindle the flame is a ritual in which great heroes and lords must sacrifice their souls. At this point, Prince Lothric abandons his duty, and Sulyvahn, a lord, proclaims himself Pontiff.
In this context, the Ashen One, i.e., the player, must return Prince Lothric and Lords of Cinder to their thrones to carry out the ritual and rekindle the flame.
Gameplay and Mechanics
According to the director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's gameplay design followed "closely from Dark Souls II."
In short, gameplay in Dark Souls is straightforward. Gamers are equipped with several types of weapons, such as swords, bows, throwable projectiles, etc. They can also use a shield as a secondary weapon to defend themself and survive in ruins.
Each weapon has two types of attacks, one standard and the other slightly more powerful that must be charged up. This feature is very similar to Bloodborne, the previous game of FromSoftware. This game includes new weapons and shield “skills,” which are unique abilities that enable special attacks at the cost of focus points.
Gamers can avoid attacks from enemies through a dodge-rolling movement. Also, they can use magic via “focus points” (FP), which are consumed when gamers perform spells. Movements and combat are more fluid than in the previous games.
There are two types of Estus Flasks in the game, one to refill hit points and the other to refill focus points.
Gamers can improve weapons and expand character builder. Finally, Dark Souls 3 presents more detailed and larger maps than its predecessor, encouraging exploration.
