What Is the Sims 4?

The Sims 4 was released in 2014, and it’s the sequel of The Sim 3 and the fourth installment of the franchise.

Gameplay and Mechanics

As you may know if is not your first time playing The Sims franchise, you don’t have a goal or primary objective. The main focus of the game is you simulate the intuitive lives of virtual people by making decisions in different categories. 

Create, Meet and Live!

You control the personalities and emotions of sims through a new gameplay mechanic. This feature is built upon the mood system of previous games, but now it affects sims in a deeper way. 

Positive and negative mood influences the current emotion of the sim. The emotional state of a Sim is depicted in the lower-left corner of the screen while playing. 

Also, emotions are escalating: the sim may reach one stage of emotion and advance to the next, a more extreme stage of the same emotion. Sim will act according to their emotions. 

Creations of Sims

The Sims 4 puts special emphasis on the creation of sims. This feature is called “Create-a-Sim.” 

Adjust the face and body of the sim by clicking, dragging, and pulling the cursor. Besides, you can select pre-made designs of Sims, and range in body shape and ethnicity.

You can also choose between seven life stages: baby, toddler, child, teenager, young adult, adult, and elder. Besides, each sim has three personality traits. These traits define the behavior of the sim. 

Building your House

The main interface for constructing and furnishing houses in The Sims 4 is called “Build Mode. This is a room-based mode. You can move rooms including all objects, wall coverings, and floor, door, and windows at the same time. 

You can also select pre-made rooms or use a search tool to find Build mode objects. This helps you save a lot of time. You can also adjust wall heights, and build pools and ponds with their own respective tools. 

Furthermore, you may move windows up or down vertically along the wall, and insert or remove columns and foundations.
